Mary Maxine Machen Clark was born to Issac and Louelle Branch Machen on January 13, 1940. Surrounded by her family, Mary peacefully went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 5, 2023.

She was the valedictorian of Carter C. Raymond High Class of 1957. She attended LSUA and Northwestern State University where she earned a degree in Nursing. Mary was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing as a member of NU-TAU. Mary worked as a Registered Nurse at Rapides General in the beginning of her career. She later became employed with the VA in Alexandria where she worked 30 plus years before retiring as the Community Health Coordinator. She was active in the community and served as a Certified American Red Cross CPR Instructor, Toastmasters, and had leadership roles in other organizations.

Mary became a member and was baptized at Beulah Baptist Church in Rapides, LA at a young age. Mary served as a devoted member, Sunday School Teacher,

and Choir Member. Mary married the love of her life the late Mr. Johnnie Lee Clark in November 1960 and was blessed with a beautiful daughter Roxane Marlene Clark.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a devoted daughter, Roxane Clark Williams; three grandchildren, Jeffery Blake Hillard, Lauryn Eilon Williams, and Kendrick Mercel Williams, Jr.; three sisters, Patricia (Greg) James, Bobbie (Douglas) Williams, and Eunice Rolle; three brothers, Lonnie (Rosina) Machen, Issac (Linda) Machen, and James (Rochelle) Machen; a special bonus daughter, Gretchen (Sugar Baby) Durham, devoted friends, Carmen and Kendall Williams, a host of nieces, nephew, church family and friends that loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents Issac and Louelle Branch, paternal and maternal grandparents, her siblings Neveda Prater, Florence Carrington, Susie Talley, Joseph Edmonds, and Willie Edmonds.
